Hey, it’s a (late) birthday cameo for Zero! Sorry for being late… and for implying you’re closer in age to the comic’s parents than the main characters, now that I think about it. But yeah, thanks for never spoiling Koga’s backstory for anyone, despite having been there when he worked at a PokéMart and totally knowing about it all along.

Yes, all this “sticking to the ceiling” Koga does is just him being a tryhard. He’s really a ninja, guys, for really realzies.

Still, respect for the guy. Most trainers are incapable of achieving a “Gym Leader” level of mastery with a Pokémon type unless they share the type themselves (spoiler for some of the Leaders’ types, I suppose, but I’ve revealed almost all of them already) and have a natural affinity for the element. Koga managed to become a Poison expert without it – and he’s putting a Dark spin on his fighting style, as we’ve seen, which makes him very unique even among the Leaders. This unusual mix is what’s gonna help him achieve the Elite Four gig in the future, but that’s a story for another time.

Yes, Koga was really good at making people think they want to buy more than they intended. The manager was devastated when he quit.

And yet he still can’t control the part-Dark Raskal the Stunky…
