The biggest mystery of Yonkoma Nuzlocke answered! I probably made all my Leaders way too likeable for you to suspect any of them, but that’s all the more reason I thought Kiyo, the ex-Leader of Saffron City, would’ve been an easy suspect. He was in Vermillion City at the time when the S.S. Anne meeting was being prepared and was even explicitly there to assist Surge, the person later confirmed to have been in charge of preparing said meeting. The fact Surge clearly figured out the mystery himself (page #319) was another big clue. Then he states outright he’s heading to seek out the traitor and the next time we see him he knows about the Rocket invasion on Saffron City and tries to get in there. Come on, this was an easy one. Definitely more predictable than what awaits on the next page…

In case you’re wondering (you’re not, but I’m gonna say what I wanna say anyway), Doug’s ringtone is “Idol” by YOASOBI, which is the kick-ass opening theme to the anime adaptation of “Oshi no Ko”, a phenomenal manga y’all should check out. It’s ideal to go as blind as possible. The initial premise might seem off-putting to some at first (guilty as charged, I put off reading it for a long time and boy, was I missing out!), but fortunately it goes in a way more interesting direction than one might expect. This is also a rare instance in which I can recommend starting with either the manga or the anime, because the adaptation is great. Do note that it uniquely starts with a movie-length episode one, but is more than worth your time.

Anyway, enough gushing about actual masterpieces and back to my silly lil comic. Things seem to be taking a dire turn! Kae and Gary land in Kiyo’s treasonous clutches, while poor Anzu apparently suffers the same fate because of Lilith. And with even Bill acting strangely, the final page of this three-parter had better involve a really clever solution from Doug, as he seems to be our last hope. Unless Bruno Silph can kick Giovanni’s ass and finish the Rocket threat right here and now. Wouldn’t that be nice, huh.

You might recognize the newest Rocket victim of Doug and Anzu as the participant of the Pewter siege who was threatened by Lorelei. Her name is Theresa. You might also recognize Golisopod as a Pokémon that’s way too complicated a design for me to draw! I could blame the entire hiatus on this one Pokémon alone and you honestly wouldn’t be stupid for believing me. Maybe Lilith should’ve stuck to her Blaziken from Chapter IV.
