Now, if you’ve noticed where we are, you might be wondering about that “Doushi” thing. Simply put, it’s Koga’s family name. The ninja clan puts similar emphasis on family and heritage as the Rattata families we’ve seen, so once again it’s last name first.

“Doushi” itself means “comrade” or “kindred soul” (or just “verb”, but let’s ignore that), but it also semi-combines other Japanese words – namely “doku” (poison), “shi” (death) and “shinobi” (stealth, a word often used for ninja).
